Cure for cancer. Why is it taking so long?

Cancer, as we all know, is a cruel illness. One that can be treated, but not cured. And people can survive it with the allocated treatment, but many don't. So what I want to know is why the hell it is taking so long to find a cure! Below I will debate as to various ideas as to why ...

First of all, we must focus on the pharmaceutical companies that are searching for the cure. Some people say that they are profit-driven and more bothered about making money than actually keeping people in good health. If this is the case, then the pharmacueticals would probably want to delay a cure because treatment for cancer brings them more money than they would probably get for a widespread cure. Furthermore, finding a cure would put an end to all of the research funds and donations given to cancer research and thus terminate a massive source of income for the pharmaceutical business - and the question is .. would they want this to happen?

To be honest, the pharmaceuticals shouldn't really mind due to the amount they make from other treatments and drugs, so I hope they aren't being greedy. However, selling drugs and treatments is their business and they want it to prosper. This is probably why there never seems to be cures for that many illnesses, but rather TREATMENTS for them instead, which make people rely on drugs that they must keep taking - of course, this brings them more money than complete cures would (a cure is a one-time thing whereas treatment is ongoing). Hence, I ask if a cure for cancer hasn't been found because the pharmaceuticals don't want to reduce their funds.

In their defence though, cancer is a tricky illness to cure because it consists of the human cells going corrupt, so scientists need to find a way to destroy only the corrupt human cells and not the healthy ones. Also, there are still illnesses that can't be cured, such as the common cold. So maybe, despite the marvelous scientific feats of this world, some things are still simply incurable at this moment in time.

Some people think there could be a natural cure for cancer, contained within some animal or plant, like there is for other various illnesses. Deforestation doesn't help the situation because a cure hidden in the rainforests could become extinct before scientists realise it could have cured cancer. Perhaps such a cure is already extinct, who knows. A man-made cure, however, could still be put together by the Cancer Research scientists although the absense of a natural remedy is a contributing factor to why a cure for cancer is taking so long to find.

And finally, I will suggest a much darker possibility for why a cancer cure hasn't been discovered. Some people seem to think that governments around the world don't want a cure to be discovered because they want to reduce population growth as much as possible. With the threat of overcrowding the planet and using up all of its resources, it may be indeed possible that governments have plans for population control in place. As we know, the leaders of different nations meet up and talk about things regularly; hopefully, they do not talk about things such as population control, but it is indeed possible. Perhaps governments don't want to stop wars, murder, cancer, AIDS/HIV, poverty etc because these different things take so many lives and play their part at keeping overpopulation at bay. Of course, our governments may not have these intentions and do campaign for the end of such problems, yet do they campaign hard enough if these problems remain ongoing.

So there you have it ... a few different suggestions for why cancer is taking so long to cure! Feel free to question each of these ideas or suggest your own, as you may come up with something that I haven't mentioned. Let us pray that a cure will be discovered soon and put an end to the suffering of many people. If anybody with cancer is reading this or you know somebody with cancer, then I hope you all get healthy again soon.
